LAMBDΛ. An assorted collection of hangers, hand-crafted from micarta – layered cloth and denim soaked in resin to create a strong and durable material.

The micarta in LAMBDΛ hangers are made from discarded and old fabrics that would otherwise end up in landfills just like the other 7-14 million tons that Americans throw away each year. Your LAMBDΛ hanger purchase gives these fabrics a new life as clothes hangers.

Meticulously handcrafted and designed, these luxury hangers are the perfect display piece to compliment your clothes that demand attention and special care. Emphasize your style. Show off your fashion sense. LAMBDΛ.

Overview
The goal of this course was to create a product, start to finish. That includes initial research, design and development, and even refinement and selling the final deliverable at The Ohio State University Department of Design's fourth annual Winter Market. I was partnered with the wonderful Annie Roo for the duration of the course.

We started the semester researching traffic patterns on campus, and once we concluded, gave away the research packet to Team H (Sam Gaerke, Erika Strazinsky, Annie Waugh) in exchange for their research. The sudden change in the project velocity is to simulate real-world design work, where you may be given pre-conducted research with which you must then design a product to solve its discovered problem.

With fresh research, our team brainstormed many ideas with the goal to narrow them down to two very refined product suggestions. These suggestions would then face a jury of current professional designers (Robert Mora, Laura Lenhart, Christy Walters, Merinj van der Heijden, and Jeremy Stone) that would vote on what the team would move forward with.

LAMBDΛ was chosen, so the last leg of the course was focused on refinement and delivery - producing a minimum of ten products and selling them at the Winter Market. In the end, our team produced 27 products (17 LAMBDΛ variants, 7 PI variants, and 3 GAMMA variants), and sold 15 of them for a total revenue of $255.

Video Showcase
These videos provide a glimpse into the behind the scenes of the production of LAMBDΛ.

The media was created in collaboration with the DESIGN 4400.01 course and are not produced by me personally. They heavily include my project partner - Annie Roo - and myself within the subject matter. These three videos were created by my peers: Samantha Gaerke, Erika Strazinsky, and Annie Waugh.

I created a video similar in style to these, but it is not featured here. Please see the "Media Explorations" page of my portfolio to see my take on their work.
